Yoga Class
Class Description: Class session will be moderately paced and appropriate for all level students. It will be a mixed style class incorporating Vinyasa yoga as well as attention to alignment and technique. Clear instruction is given in breathing technique, warm-up and posture flow. New students will develop body awareness, posture alignment and core strength in basic poses. Modifications are given allowing the students to choose a more beginning or more advanced practice according to their needs. Everyone works on his or her own ability and comfort level.
Melissa S. Capel, RYT200, Melissa has been practicing yoga for 10 years and teaching for 5 years. C She completed a 220-hour interdisciplinary yoga-training program at Amalam School of Yoga at Outer Banks Yoga in January 2014.She is a Certified Yoga Instructor, registered with Yoga Alliance. Melissa is known for her non-judgmental teaching style. She finds joy in helping others connect the mind, body, and breath through yoga.
You will need to bring your own yoga mat.

Ayden Arts and Recreation is offering Kickboxing Fitness Class. Our total-body kickboxing workouts incorporate kicking and punching for a dynamic, challenging experience. This class takes the spirit and movement of professional kickboxing and turns it into a fun fitness challenge focused on cardiovascular health. Kickboxing is the number one fat-burning, cardio exercise, with up to 1,200 calories burned during a one-hour class
KICKBOXING INSTRUCTOR:
Demetrius “Oaktree” Edwards is a professional kick boxing Champion. He has developed many exercise routines. After he retired from the ring, he moved back to his hometown Ayden to teach others how to stay physically fit and active. Participants will be using some of the same exercise routines he uses as a professional kick boxer.
Class will take a maximum of 20 participants and minimum 8 participants
CLASSES: This is 16-night program, class will meet weekly on Monday and Thursday, Starting December 9th

Get moving and grooving! Ayden Arts and Recreation is hosting a free Dance Fitness Night on Thursday December,19th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the Ayden Recreation Center
Class Description: Dance Fitness encompasses several exercises and activities while incorporating several dance styles to appeal to all people of all ages and skill level. Everyone works on their own ability and comfort level. You do not have to have any dance experience to enjoy Dance Fitness classes. So come get low and rock your hips because no diggity no doubt we all just want to dance with somebody! Feel free to bring hand weights for our 4 1/2 minutes of squats!
DANCE INSTRUCTOR:
Erin Beaman - Erin has been dancing since the age of 5 and has taught dance in a variety of schools and rec centers over the years. Erin recently completed her Certified Zumba Instructor training but also received her BFA in Dance East Carolina University. Additionally, Erin earned her MS in Instructional Technology from ECU and PhD in Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis from NCSU. Erin loves dancing and is excited to resume teaching Zumba through Ayden Recreation.
